We will significantly improve the quality of life in our state by focusing our resources on the health of West Virginia

The WVSMA Alliance is comprised of component alliances located throughout the state.  They are Cabell County, Eastern Panhandle, Harrison County, Kanawha County, Logan County, Mercer County, Monongalia County, Ohio County and Raleigh County.  There are also spouses who are not affiliated with a particular alliance and are considered Members at Large.

Established in 1925 as the Woman's Auxiliary to the West Virginia State Medical Association, just three years after the formation of the Woman's Auxiliary  to the American Medical Association, the WVSMA Auxiliary's objectives were two-fold, the basic tenet being that of cultivating friendliness among physician's families; the second, of promoting better relations between the
profession and the public.

Later, nationwide the auxiliary was renamed the alliance.  Today the West Virginia State Medical Association Alliance, Inc. has become a non-profit organization .  We are an organization comprised of Physician's Spouses dedicated to the health of all West Virginians.  Our purpose is to assist in those programs of the West Virginia State Medical Association that improve the health and quality of life for all people; to encourage participation and assist with educational and charitable endeavors which promote health care: to represent the programs of the AMA Alliance to the state of West Virginia; to provide a network for county Alliances
throughout the state of West Virginia.
